Implementation of Phase 4 expansion programme - Redden Court Secondary school expansion - Decision to increase funding

Further to the Cabinet decision to implement the phase 4, school expansion programme in October 2016 and the subsequent decision by the Cabinet Lead Member allocating funding, the Leader of the Council will be asked to make a decision to increase the funding for the Redden Court School Expansion.

Decision type: Key

Reason Key: Expenditure > £500,000;

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Notice of proposed decision first published: 17/04/2018

Reason for urgency:
This matter is being added under general exception as the decision is needed urgently without giving the full 28 day notice period. This is due to the fact that the Education, Skills and Funding Agency need to procure the works for the development. The ESFA confirmed on 9th April that the authority can now use Basic Need for this project as the additional accommodation requested is not beyond the area guidelines of what the school require for a 2FE expansion which has led to the requirement of etra funding. The matter needs to be dealt with urgently as there is not a Cabinet meeting until June and the works are essential to ensure provision for the new school year.
